Status on new album as of October 2006

My new album, which is yet to be named, is currently in production.

Throughout this year, I have been recording basic tracks (rhythm guitars and vocals) at Cedar Studios (my home studio). I then brought these basic tracks to the Hocking College studio in late summer 2006, where drums were overdubbed the with the help of engineer (& all-around cool fellow) Kevin Shima. Amazing drum tracks were provided by Adam Darlin (of the Athens, OH band Fokushima) and Jim Johanson (of the Boulder, CO band The Menagerie).

I then brought the drum tracks back to Cedar Studios, where I have been mixing them and overdubbing more instruments and vocals on top of them. So far, I have recorded a number of additional guitar and bass tracks. The songs (12 in all) are in various stages of production; ranging from only drums, one guitar, and a vocal track; to full instrumentation minus keyboards.

Which brings me to my current need: I am interested in adding some keyboard tracks, including a hammond/leslie sound and a fender rhodes-type sound. However, I don't own anything that is capable of making these sounds. If you live somewhere within 30 miles or so of Athens, and would be interested in renting/lending out your equipment for this purpose, I would be greatly appreciative. Mind you, I'm looking for convincing sounds here - no cheesy Casio stuff, please.

The album will continue in production while I simultaneously attend grad school and apply for internships in clinical psychology. Thus, things will continue to move fairly slowly for now. But look out - these tracks sound amazing and I'm really psyched with how this album is shaping up. It will be, by far, my best yet.

Stay tuned,
Greg
